Child of Innocence
It was but a glance of hope
that I saw in her eyes
About winds on the meadows
and birds in the heights
A ticklish dream of spring
awaited for long amid the lies
O Child of pure innocence
run before the run of times
In the darkness lies there
this heart of guilt and sorrow
Grown up over the agonies
and veins tight and narrow
Mercifulness is so a blessing
but what left of it to follow?
O Child of pure innocence
nap, and yet there is tomorrow
Blabber not O my little
life blabbered enough for me
When your turn comes
surely there is something to be
Like a glancing star above
shine and let everyone see
O Child of pure innocence
what innocence shall it be?
