Childhood Memories
Family picnics by the beach
Picnics by the beach in summer
We all gathered happily by the beach
Bus driver families by the beach
A regular event
Children playing together
All in blue un-clouded weather
This was summer in South Australia
Family picnics by the beach
Nineteen fifties families playing together
I stood by the water
Waiting for Dad, he had the rubber tyre
My sister was riding the waves
In the rubber tyre, with my Dad
'Oh! when is it my turn'
She had all the fun
I sat by the waters edge, and waited
Will my turn ever come
Digging my feet into the soft sand
Playing, forgetting
Besides the water's edge I sat
Big sister's had all the fun
My turn came when I got bigger
But for now folly by the water's edge
Digging my feet into soft sand
Creepy little fish in shells, come to the surface
Making puddles of water, Sand castles
Summer childhood memories
A time gone by
Innocence
Nineteen fifties, when families and children played
Big sisters
Little sisters
All in blue un-clouded weather
Family picnics by the beach.
