Children Grow Before My Eyes Poem by Manonton Dalan

Children Grow Before My Eyes

Rating: 5.0

sea urchins waving their spines
soak with toxin; a very painful
when it breaks into your skin
i saw tiny hands picking them
cracking their shell to extract
meat; treated to be delicacy

took hours to extract a gallon
i love outriggers of small boat
serve as their launching platform
children swim like frogs; gathering
whatever they can; even clams, oysters
i just sit there watching days go by
