Choctaw Bass

Biologists found a new bass
Living in the U.S. southeast
From DNA tests done in mass,
And then publically released.
But of course, the American
Fisheries Society must
Approve any new found bass clan,
To be debated and discussed.
Choctaw bass is the name proposed.
Native peoples who there once thrived.
But U.S. tyranny imposed,
And very few Choctaws survived.

Hopefully, Choctaw bass will fare
Better than their namesakes did there.

Poem of the Day

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
