Christmas Night Poem by Amelia Hammond

Christmas Night

I still remember your touch
How your skin felt against my own
The force you used, the bruises you left
Your voice and the sounds you made
And how you stopped my own
How you made me look away
I still wouldn't dare look at you
Even if you were only inches away from me
I remember how time almost came to a halt
As you come undone over and over again
I remember wanting my soul to leave my body
Wanting it to end, for everything to become nothing
But you would never allow that
Your voice still echoes in my head
Promising you will come back someday
You wanted to be apart of me forever
I will always remember you
After all, you became my nightmares
Always hunting me never letting go
Thanks to you I cannot function
Every time I close my eyes I see you
Hidden in the darkest parts of me
Keeping everyone away after all I am tainted
Unclean as you left me that night
I was once pure but you have changed that
It all started on that Christmas night.
