Climbing Up From Being Dumbed Down Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Climbing Up From Being Dumbed Down

It's the people.
Climbing up from being dumbed down.
And it's the people.
Finally seeing all around,
Who's empathetic.
To their needs.
And who protects their mentalities.

It is the people.
Climbing up from being dumbed down.
It is the people.
Looking at themselves all around.
Waking up from deep sleep.
And used like clowns.
Disbelieving they've been treated,
Like meat found.

It is the people.
Stopping themselves to attack.
Yes, it is the people.
Wanting what they valued back.
After selling out to fat cats.
More like rats.
Sniffing in the gutters.
Where they stash stolen cash.

It is the people.
Waking up to use their brains.
And it's the people.
Realizing who's insane.
Hoping that time,
Is not too late for change.

It is the people.
Climbing up from being dumbed down.
It is the people.
Looking at themselves all around.
And starting to evaluate,
Why do they hate.
And who is using who to manipulate.

It is the people.
Tricked and duped like fools.
It is the people.
Used like tools to abuse.
It is the people.
No matter what color they are.
Black, white or yellow,
But in one cookie jar.
It is the people.
Treated as if they are snacks.
Bit and nibbled on,
By fat cats.

It is the people.
Awakening from being dumbed down.
And looking all around to see fools.
