Clovers Poem by Joanna Fregoso

Clovers

Rating: 5.0

Wrapped between the hidden clovers
Nestled in your tender arms
Never had I felt so enamored
Never had I felt so strong.
Behind the tumultuous thoughts
Arose
A sickly nectar
Of potent charms,
Thoughts I had never thought to share
Dreams I had never dreamt to dare,
Clashed among
The mixed agendas
Conflicting clandestine fairytales
With the surreptitious lies
Revealed within your bloodshot eyes.
You licked my lips
And held me close
Defying gods of all religions;
Whispering promises I could not deny.
Sickeningly the desire derided
Daring me to feel alive.
And in the apex of the storm
Arouse the voice I could not control
Slander, hate, and greed aside
I took one look into your eyes
And in a slash of agitation
I took your life
I took your life.
