Cobra Of Time Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

Cobra Of Time

Now
That
Dusk
Be
Come
Let
ourselves
to
shows
of
beauty
be resigned.
*
Cobra of time, grizzly
Bear.
The water salts sniff
Together we lifted
The giant lid of time - for
Once.
The waters hid; that was
The Time of the Petard
Ink, ink, ink,
And the chanson fades,
Fades, fades.
The waters shoot.
The sun heat shoots.
In the square there's a monument
Of a tall column square
With a Cat's head thereon.
The time of the weights
The falling of dusk
Day, each day, prepares to fade.
Then
It executes its plan
With strings from above drawn
By
The mighty humble Sub-Conscious.
Mighty monument of might
Crumbling with time
And age; the winds eroding
Hide.
In the Pandora's box-of-Time
I faded.
Hang on my neck it is
Hardening.
Knowledge miracles will
Work when I so will.
For
The compression of the miracles
In the Knowledge be.
In the other square
At its four corners
And
Beyond, baskers in ditty.
A fleet of char-a-bancs
Sailed through the pedestrian
Area
Exception made for a few
Minutes.
For there students just
Graduating.
On the loud hailers some
Of their knowledge
An advert to the crowd
On their graduation.
Move slow, move slow
The night is coming
Now
That dusk has come.
