Cold Water Poem by Val Davis

Cold Water

Cold water from the sky.
Sometimes wish I could cry...
Often wonder, 'What is true? '
And how to learn what to do...

A change is needed, that's a fact! !
Time to try a lil tact?
There's no need to wonder why,
That cold water from the sky...

It falls down on ALL of us,
'Tis all part of God's trust.
We're all equal in his eyes,
And every one of us dies.

Have to stop living in the past;
He who was first will be last.
So start to look ahead-
And live NOW, before you're DEAD!

Gonna change 'fore its too late,
Done with living all this Hate!
So when I'm laid down to rest,
I can say I did my best...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this one in prison in Missouri. A drop of rain hit my shoulder and I had to write it as soon as possible. It just had to get out of my brain and onto paper. I consider it the best poem I have written this far....
