Come Home With Me Poem by Eric Rhodes

Come Home With Me

Rating: 5.0

When I feel the softness of your skin
pressing against me, my love,
I understand how easy it could be
to follow you home.

Then a sound from outside our world
breaks my already weakened
concentration and I am gone,
fluttering away so easily.

I've left you again,
oh beautiful one, and it pains me.

Why is my love so human, so fleeting,
when yours, oh your love is so real,
liquid life flowing forth
in an unending cascade.

I keep my cup held high
as I drink you with every breath,
hoping my intoxicated state
will allow me to follow you
home at last.
