Confusion Poem by Clayton Anderson

Confusion

With a soft whisper of love your smile caresses my eyes, your scared and lonely heart seeking the shelter it once knew. I watch as your eyes glisten with the hope of tomorrow. Tomorrow, always tomorrow... Our lives hidden, prisoners of uncertainty teased by the dreams of yesterday and haunted by what seems an inevitable end. Far off, in a place never seen by mortal eyes we feel our souls, intertwined, dancing, happy, full with the glow of life and love. Is it too far? Are we too tired? Is this feeling real? Before us a sea of pain, what seems to be an endless dawn to a make believe day. Will we make it? Can it be done? Our heads reeling, thoughts of betrayal fill our minds. Breathe, breathe... Slowly so you feel every molecule of air, breathe. The confusion settles, the pain seems to dim. To live in fear of an inevitable uncertainty, or what, what else is there? The glow, the pull within our souls, the calling to each other... What’s left, Hope, trust, love, reality, the simple calm brought unto us only from that far off place we always feel but never see. Close your eyes, stop the fear, listen... The whisper, the breeze, the slow wave of warm embracing love... Who needs to see where you are, when your soul feels so much at home. All over again I find myself lost in your eyes.
