Contemplating Life Poem by Adam Jeffries

Contemplating Life

Render me incapable of the day’s requirements
Hold me to some scrupulous underpinning of morality
I’m unsure of what I have to contribute in this world
Pushed into a churning sea of humanity without direction or training

When I arrived in this place of heaven and hell
Ill equipped with the equipment to know the difference
I clung to images of past glory and past tastes of pleasure
Only to learn that while my palate to them was indifferent
The world cares only about it.

We are animals….AN- EEE- MALLS…..Our joy in knowing otherwise curiously misplaced at the doorstep of our founding.

We cannot be other than what we are..what we are cannot allow us to accept that this is the way it is…what a conundrum…What a curious way for us to act.

I would greatly love to bring a fantasy to life. To greatly affect the molecule that is our world and somehow connect to another….I would love greatly to disconnect – the phone…the people, the ideology and the regiment of a world without any sense of itself…we argue over who is right about issues which require no concern…We randomly employ the devils of our evolution to fight the rage of our ancestral instincts….I wonder why anyone cares…I wonder why do I? Launch an existence of purity…take me to my Eden for a tainted apple I will never eat. Let me enjoy the wonderment of our world without questioning its origin, its purpose, its future, or my own, and then will this existence have meaning….
