Contemplation Poem by Smoky Hoss

Contemplation

Rating: 5.0

</>I see an elderly man in need.
I stop - I help.
He thanks me, again and again.
But, that's not the point.....
- that's not IT.
The real gratitude - the true feeling -
Is following the sweet urging of Life.....
- the Love of life, within the love for others.
... I contemplate this, as he waves and goes along his way.....

Contemplation is
Experiencing the presence of God.
Life is present;
How could I not contemplate it.
- These moments, they come,
So unsuspected.
They go, so quickly;
I don't want to let go
... still, they pass...
My world is changed
- for the better -
Forever.

It's strange that your help for a fellow human being can help them spiritually as well as physically. But the weird thing is like you found out it can help the person who did the helping a sort of self-satisfaction that what you did made a difference...and...that it did. Nice one Smoky. In the helping of others we make our soul shine that little bit brighter... Very thoughtful poem... Well done...

I know what you mean Smoky, I've spent a lifetime helping others and most of the time what I get is that what do you want loo and when it is realized that I am there just to help, they all are at a loss for words. My only hope is that they return the favor and put America back on the right track and in some ways put us back in the foryies and fifties when this whole country was just trying to survive TOGETHER

Life is funny that way. Whenever I have encounters with those less fortunate than myself the first thing I do I say to myself, Self, this could be you. At that point the atmosphere changes.

Really like this. If everyone helped each other instead of killing each other, what a world we would live in. A great poem.

I fully understand this poem. Helping does make us better, no matter what others say, Christ WOULD have done it this way.

It's so true, and also amazing how you notice the differences among people; how some embrace aid and are grateful but a few don't want to be seen as less capable and would rather struggle through on their own; so many flowers to observe their opening up in this world, and so few days to watch!
