Continuous Lie Poem by Chloee Desormeau

Continuous Lie

She smiles at you
As she sits silently
You don't know if it's true,
And yet you smile back hopefully.

Maybe she's faking
Or maybe she's not
Maybe she's just practicing
To hide the growing knot.

You have no clue
What she's really thinking
And as if on cue,
Her eyes defy her faking.

You look into them deeply,
Discovering her pain
You can almost feel it reaching out weakly,
Her misery shouting in vain.

You seek to know what's wrong
And when you ask her she refuses to define
You can hear her voice flow like a song,
As she smiles and lies fluently, says 'I'm Fine'.
