Contributing To One's Ego Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Contributing To One's Ego

Many have been allowed to believe,
Themselves to be...
The center of the Universe.
To discredit the ones,
That they relied and depended upon.
With a doing to dismiss,
Contributions made to their lives.
As if they have arrived,
To embellish experiences not to have had.

Yet this could not be done,
Without the aid from others.
Doing their best,
To teach someone else...
How to face their insecurities.
Everyone has to eventually get over them.
But not to suspect an ego to regret.
That becomes out of control as one grows older!
To watch.
Unable to stop.
Since that time has long gone to pass.
