Daddy And Me Poem by Lebone Tshepe

Daddy And Me

Dad says he don't want to alone
He whispers to me over the phone
He tries to explain
But all that I'm feeling is pain
He takes a breath
Then again that's when he says
'I'm sorry son, but i got to go'
He drops the phone
As I hold mine in my hand
Whispering to myself
'Daddy i wish you were back in my land'

I sit here in my room
Thinking of what he's going through
It's been long that I haven't seen my dad
Sometimes thinking of him makes me cry
And makes me terribly sad
There are days i have sleepless nights
Days that I toss and turn
Worried if my dads is alright
Because in my dreams i see him burn

That's when I kneel down
And pray to God
To save my daddy and bring him home
To keep him safe and to let him live
Because God if it's an angel you need
Take me instead
That's everything I would give

I sometimes hear my mommy cry
I describe her as a beautiful angel
Who forgotten how to fly
She misses dad I can tell
Most of the time
She hides in her little cell
You see, ever since my dad was a soldier
It has been difficult for him to hold her
For when she trips and fall
She needs dad to help her up
And protect her all

If it's a hero I need
If it's a hero indeed
If it's a present i will get
A present that i shall never regret
Then please God, bring my daddy home

I'm proud to call him my hero
He doesn't only fight for me
But for others
Even though his far away
And when my days seem black and grey
Nothing will seperate the love
For what he has for me
But one thing i ask, more than above
'Dear God please bring my daddy home,
where he belongs, back to mommy and me.'

This is so real though. I love the content of the poem. Dad's are important in a child's life and I love how you expressed that. Makes me appreciate my old man even more.
