Day Dreamer Poem by Katherine H. Belle

Day Dreamer

How foolish is the dreamer?
Foolish that he spends his time
yearning for days not his own.
He takes a drink from the devils cup
hoping that somehow it will bring him closer to god
Knowing full well that the cup of the devil
Is filled to the brim with poison.
a poison that fills him so full with thirst
He almost dies of want.
A foolish man, this dreamer.
To drink from the devils cup
and hope to survive it
with even a shred of sanity left upon his soul.
