Derby Dales Poem by Jim O'Donnell

Derby Dales

Rating: 4.5

Standing still upon the hill
All below me very still
Land of different shades of green
With dry stone walls in between

In the distance in stones of gray
The village of Castleton that’s were I’ll stay
Walk down passed the blue John mines
Winnetts pass oh what a climb

Pevril castle high on the hill
Looks down upon this village still
Built around eleven seventy-five
This keeps Castleton alive

The Inn door approaches near
Sit by the fire with ice cold beer
Reminisce about the Derby Dales
With local folks and their tales
