Destructive Distrust Poem by Samantha McKinnon

Destructive Distrust

Rating: 5.0

I know I can't provide you both
With the happiness you each deserve.
Time has given me one before the other,
And my heart has chosen accordingly.
My love does not come from a source of his [nonexistent] superiority,
But rather my flawed heart of destructive distrust.
One pushed harder, got much farther inside
Of my mind-seized the remnants of my heart.
You both remind me of the heartbeat in my chest,
In opposite ways, so I beg you both:
Only go if you must.
