twilight by the river

Distant Forest

Somewhere in the distant forest
Between life and death
I lied there waiting.
The wind knew my name
Sorrow and pain
The autumn dispersed my dreams
The sun turned them yellow!
Be ware of the distant forest
Nothing grows over there
Even despair!

poet Ambrose Bierce

Weather
by Ambrose Bierce

Once I dipt into the future far as human eye could see,
And I saw the Chief Forecaster, dead as any one can be--
Dead and damned and shut in Hades as a liar from his birth,
