Diwali: Cheer Poem by Roann Mendriq

Light splashes around us, all through the year,
dispelling shadows and casting out fear;
Yet we are mournful and wallow in dark,
Blind to the radiance in each tiny spark.

This Diwali, let's promise to seek out the light
hidden in others, away from plain sight;
Let us celebrate light, with the kindest expression,
to those in the abyss, of a deep dark depression.

Let us radiate light and warmth with the gold
of laughter and sunshine on the aged and old;
Let light spread its rays on the ill and the weak
that may find joy and the healing they seek.

Let us spread light in smiles, in joyful cheer,
Let us celebrate Diwali, all through the year!
