Duff 'Odiles' Poem by Roy Edwards

Duff 'Odiles'

Duff 'Odiles'
She wandered, only as a crowd
Of blokes got high on ale and pils.
Then Al, her agent said aloud,
'You're mostly dancing duff 'Odiles',
Besides you'll ache, Lord Reith agrees,
For D'arcy it would be a breeze.
'Continually other stars outshine
You, munching on your Milky Way,
You'll end up in the chorus line,
No margin there for me, I'd say.
Ten thousand saw I, not a chance
Till duff 'Odiles' you cease to dance.
She waves, beside herself with glee,
But duff 'Odiles'don't impress me.
An agent cannot but be gay,
But in this game we're made that way.
I gazed and gazed but little thought,
My thoughts are little, sometimes nought.'
When oft upon my oath I lie
About you're 'Odile'dancing skills,
I think of all that tin that I
Would make if you'd not fluff 'Odiles'.
And then my till with treasure fills
When you stop dancing duff 'Odiles'.
