Earth Part 1 Poem by Paula Glynn

Earth Part 1

The earth is our mother and deserves our respect,
For rubbish bags aren't good for her soul,
The air shouldn't be polluted,
And no good comes from this,
Because our people are dying in Africa,
When it doesn't take much for us,
To give them toilets and wells,
Because it is easy to say when someone is in hell,
But it takes more effort to get them out of that hell,
But Africa is a beautiful continent that has inspired millions.

I drag the soil through my hands,
As hot and dry as the desert sands,
That leaves my hair matted and in strands,
Because I know this is the place people need help,
Their dreams being helped by governments to come true,
Because these are just a few of earth's people,
And our mother needs us to nurture her to better health,
She needs us to care for her people,
For we are all earth's creation,
It matters very much that we make dreams come true.

And this isn't just how it should be in Africa:
Every place on earth deserves freedom and peace,
Where earth can cleanse our souls,
And forgive us our mistakes,
And help us make this world,
The place we all deserve to live in,
For I don't want the earth to die screaming,
I want people to keep dreaming and find a better place,
Because we all matter,
And no one person is more important than the other,
And everyone sometimes needs to take cover,
For no one wants to be trampled on or pushed aside,
Because distress isn't something we should have to abide.

We need to stand up and be counted,
To have self respect and pride,
And we should never have to hide,
Whether this is ourselves or our true feelings,
For we all deserve respect in our everyday dealings,
And I trust that you will be okay,
And will help make your part of the world,
A place where times are good,
No matter then weather.

This earth spins in orbit and is so beautiful to see,
We just have to appreciate this world,
And love our children,
Teach them how to grow,
And to treat this green and blue planet with love and care,
For heaven is a place on earth,
And happiness is something we should all share.
