Eden Poem by Rose Marie Cook

Eden

Temptation whispers to me
It haunts me; pulls me toward the tree
There it hangs, the precious, red, lucious
Forbidden sweet, the snake hisses me to hold it

To taste it's powers, feel the sin in my blood
My hand grasps the plump fruit,
My lips part and feel the skin break,
My teeth sink in and the juice envelopes my senses

Makes me crave ut my sin grows
I take another bite
My 'other' is pulled in by temptation as well

God now fears what we know,
He sees the corruption
He banishes us like lost souls
All because of the forbidden fruit in the beautiful garden of Eden
