Empty Road Poem by William Ryan

Empty Road

I ride down an empty road,
In my hearts a heavy load,
Friends that have lied,
Some that just simply cried,
Others that slipped away,
Gone forever not just today,
I got the wind in my hair,
The look on my face says I don't care,
Not sure where to go,
But some place that no one will know,
That I am not real mean,
Or always as tough as it may seem,
The more miles that we get apart,
The bigger the break in my heart,
I need to find some place to cry,
Not to be seen by anyone passing by,
So much weight on my back,
The wall around me just may crack,
Emotions make people weak,
So to feel I must sneak,
They just don't understand,
No matter what I am still a man,
The best part of me is now gone,
Not sure how or why to carry on,
She'll never come back my way,
Good bye was all she had to say,
Then she walked out the door,
I have money but I'm poor,
This may mean nothing to you,
But the life I had is now through,
There is no debate,
Without her life can only be second rate!
