Energize Poem by Carolyn Ford Witt

Energize

ENERGIZE

I wish we could run on batteries
When our bodies begin to fail
And when my butts a draggin'
It would energize my tail.

It'd restore that spark of energy
That my body seems to have lost
And give that little Umph I need,
I wonder at what cost.

I'd wind my little key up
Like the Energizer Bunny,
Scurrying here and scurrying there
And life would be so funny.

But when that battery began to drain
And life began to slow,
I'm sure, if someone asked to wind me up,
I'd have to tell them 'NO'.

For unlike that little Bunny,
I have muscles that have grown old
And they are growing weaker,
At least that's what I am told.

So now I want to lie down
And sleep a little while
And when I wake, I'm sure....
That I can manage a little smile.

Oh My!
