Epiphinal Moments Poem by David Thomas

Epiphinal Moments

Sitting here 'indian' style
typing the outline to a quasi-important
term paper
that i just so happen to have written
and texting like us digital era children do
so very often indeed,
describing my hatred of the bullies
and immature butt-weasels
that plague and consume the hallways
and classrooms of everyday highschools,
i realized exactly why i'm going to teach
(not that i'll stop writing, ever) -
because someone needs to stop this nonsense
and since people seem to fail where ever they try
i figure i'll give it my best shot,
i can't fail, no.
i grew up knowing belittlement
so stopping it will be cake
on a platter
with a big thick knife
and a fork for every student
in the classroom that i will one day inherit,
as i begin my role as a leader of change
in a world so desperately in ignorant need for it.
