Everlasting Dream Poem by Kevin Dion

Everlasting Dream

Rating: 5.0

How I miss my world.
When cooties came from girls.
Where everything was simple.
And never having to worry about a big pimple.
When everything was nothing, and nothing was everything, by the end of the day, none of it even matter.
Only concern in life, was winning a game of Chutes and Ladders.
The good times, when friends lasted forever.
Parents always saying when you grow up you can do whatever.
Every time I close my eyes, these dreams seem more like reality.
One night I'm an astronaut, next I'm putting out the fires, this is my actuality.
What I wouldn't give to go back, throws me into a joy so fast it's beyond ecstasy.
If only if only this was more than just another fantasy.

Fast forward to teenage life, when everything change, feelings start to form inside.
Knew we were too different, made a love connection through tons of lies.
You lied about smoking weed, I lied about playing the guitar.
The closer we get; the farther we are, now it all seem so far.
You're out all day now with people you hardly know that you call your friends.
Never seem to have the time to dropp me a hey anymore, like it was all just for pretend.
You think you're hot stuff, and you know it too.
When you walking around town, see all the guys be checking you out while you're with your crew.
Hush now, night is here once again, and everybody saying their peace, and you're all alone with the company of your own thoughts.
Hush now, we both know the truth, that when you're sitting there in silent space, you'll be thinking how you got nobody to hold.
Wondering to yourself asking why it's so cold?
CRASSSH!
Shattered my heart like a hammer to a mirror, leaving only debris.
How I get you back haven't a clue, there only one place I know you'll be.

Here we are, future day.
It isn't hard to say.
I'm what they call a real MG.
I'm on top of my game.
You ain't gonna mess with my chain.
Never get up in my grill.
Because I'm always into chill.
Calm yourself down, take a hit of this and get loose.
How did it it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon said Dr. Seuss.
What's up with that cat in the hat standing in the corner.
Ya'll know me, high roller till the end, never gonna stop doing me.
Watch as I get to the top all on my own, and you be lookin back at what you be.
Don't be hatin, I'm only another soldier in the crowd.
Holding my gun, dress in uniform, we all look the same now.
