Second Chance Poem by Kevin Dion

Second Chance

Rating: 5.0

So here we are, face to face in a moment of silence

I really screwed up this time and got nothing to say

The air between us is so dense

First you tell me to go then you say to stay

We're fighting a war with our hearts that neither can win

First you push me away then you pull me in closer

Memories flashes before us of all my sins

Wrapped arms around tighter, closer

Whispering tears whisper in my ear

How'd I ever let myself get this hollowed

I couldn't tell, out of luck now and on my knees in fear

In a dark place my soul was swallowed

You were always the one that gave purpose to my life

Given a body hope and light

Made the heart pump twice as fast with some spice

Pushed dreams to new height

I know what I want, because it's all I dream about anymore

I know what is true, because old feelings finding it's way back to the surface

I'm standing here under the rain at the door

What we had was so perfect

I know what I want, because it's all I dream about anymore

Let's take a second chance, give it another try

I know you know it was always you that I adore

Sure as heck can't afford to lose you again, no I won't say bye

No longer I live a life in such haze

Now I see my dream everyday
