I don't believe in happiness
Everything always goes wrong
Making a rich home life
And having money in the bank
You think you're free
But in reality you're not
Friends betray you
Family betray you
Strangers betray you
Society betrays you
Society sees your relationship history
Your fights and feuds
With former friends
With former partners
With former neighbours
You make wealth for yourself
You make good health for yourself
You do all the right things
Your life is happy
As you wash the dishes and sing
Along with the radio
But your house
Becomes awash with violence
Or fear and other abuse
And you end up dead in the ground
Your dead body found
By the police, and shocked
Neighbours that never forget
Your lost life
Not saved by that beer and cigarette
On those lonely, lonely nights
After those fierce family fights
Where you thought yourself
Lucky to have money
Lucky to have those people
In your precious life
But you try and try
Not wanting to say goodbye
But all you were
Was a battered wife
Or a murder victim
Left dead while others
Live their lavish lives
Not knowing what you lost
The day you were buried in the ground
So I don't trust happiness
From experience if you must
Where others I knew
To never rely on: never trust
Because happiness doesn't last
And life is always changing
Leaving time going fast
Where you have to search
For justice from those criminals
That stole your riches
And stole the life
You had truly treasured
And should have lived to old age.
