Tread softly on the sand,
As it guards the land,
It has a million eye,
Peering at the azure sky.
It is the true witness,
Of the wasted bodies,
The rivers of blood,
On battle-scarred land.
It shouts its testimony,
Against man's inhumanity,
It is the judge and the jury,
And punishes the guilty.
So beware of the sand,
With its million eyes,
It is forever recording,
The sins of mankind.
What I would like to emphasise about the sand is the awareness of the atoms in their joyousness at existence - just being there - and yes, they record all that happens; but the reader can choose to read the bad histories and lament or read the good histories and rejoice. And knowing the sand will record what we do; lets leave the best possible record of our passing. A great subject, Kind regards, Margaret.
