Facing Fear Poem by Edwina Reizer

Facing Fear

I found myself on a dusky, dark street.
I found myself afraid of what I might meet.
But all I met was fear of the unknown.
I feared the thought that I was alone.

The fear was palpable and chilled my bones.
There were dark and sinister undertones
to what I pictured would happen to me.
What it was I couldn't foresee.

What I was doing here I realized now.
I was here to overcome fear somehow.
I looked up and saw the moon in my view,
the same old moon from the streets I knew.

With that in mind I ventured ahead
and left that place that brought me dread.
The mind can conjure up all kinds of things
and when it does, oh the terror it brings.
