Fade Away Poem by Timothy Lee Hollandsworth Jr.

Fade Away

Rating: 5.0

Again I stand,
To face the world,
Alone and cold in a darkened room.
I turn on the lights
Searching for a friend,
He's in the mirror staring back at me.
I turn them off again.

He's laughing at me,
Mocking me.
He says that I will never escape.
I turn on the lights
Searching for a door,
But he's everywhere in the mirrored room.
He's everywhere right here inside my tomb.

I let the tears fall,
I let them come.
All these things I cannot erase,
They fade away.

The mirror breaks,
I see his face
In the pieces on the floor.
All he does is laugh a little more.
I don't know
How much I can take.

His voice is back,
He says I'll never find the track.
This time he may be right.

I let the tears fall,
I let them come.
And all these things I cannot erase,
They fade away.
