Faded Camouflage And Dusty Boots Poem by Fae Sebastian

Faded Camouflage And Dusty Boots

</>Faded camouflage
Dusty boots
A tattered flag
A ratty coffin
The end of life
Too soon, too soon
But a child gives thanks
Their life was saved
At the cost of someone’s son
Someone’s daughter
Someone’s husband, someone’s wife
The sisters, the brothers, the aunts, and the uncles
Their lives cut short
For what, for what?
For faded camouflage and dusty boots?
For tattered flags and ratty coffins?
For prestige, for honor, just because?
No, for the child, for all the lives saved
For their own sons, their own daughters
For their husbands and wives
For their sisters, their brothers, their aunts and their uncles
Their own lives lost
For the life of another.
