Falsely Accused Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Falsely Accused

Rating: 5.0

Under the circumstance all clues pointed to you
In the wrong place at the right time…you were screwed
Sentenced as a criminal…then locked behind bars…
Unjustly paying for a wrong doing…marked by scars

For years your family had prayed your name would be cleared
They knew the proof was not as legit as it seemingly appeared
Finally it was a group of young student attorneys that pursued
The case was raked and combed…innocence must be proved

Twenty years had passed … some digging was now being done
Stored evidence was reevaluated…a new search had begun
Strides in DNA testing proved that you indeed were not guilty
Oops…a mistake had been made …now you’re are set free

Cameras televise… your admitted relief is clearly evident
Your bent frame and gray hair are evidence of years spent
After being accused and justly declared guilty by the law
You are now released by a justice system that was flawed

A rare perspective and sensitivity to those wronged by justice, which is meant to protect the innocent! Great writing.
