Skin so distant, bodies far apart,
Suppose I should get used to this.
Though never far from my heart,
Your body is oh so far from mine.

Far? Oh too far, as long as you’re not next to me,
My baby, my love, come see me and live.
Admire me, support me, love me all you can,
Give me your all so I have more to give.

Oh how I miss you, how I miss the sound of your breath,
The feel of your hair, the warmth of your chest.
Oh how I miss you, oh my dear love,
Life just gets in the way.

I know this isn’t a fairy tale, but I’d like to live it so,
We have one life to live, so let’s make it so,
It feels like it’s that way, I can dream without sleep.
So don’t wake me up, I just want you here longer with me.

I know life’s a lot of work, and I’m trying to work through,
But life’s not worth it if I’m not living it with you.
God, I don’t know what I’m doing, but whatever I do,
I just hope that I’ll be enough to keep you.

That’s all that I want, I’ll let it be known,
I want to dream of a future, one with our dreams intertwined.
Everything you wanted, and everything in mine,
Always, always… just you with me.

Baby, I don’t know if I’ll be famous, even I doubt it so,
But if I could I would, I just need to keep going.
But let me tell you, none of that money or memory would be worth it,
I would let it all go if I didn’t have you.

This is my fantasy, and I’m living it now,
As I break from my work with sweat on my brow.
Because I’m nervous, I’m nervous, babe,
There’s no point if there’s no you,
But I know you have another dream too.
One where I’m happy, one where my dream lives,
That’s why if anything did happen, I’d still do my best to push,
I’d push myself, I would… in honor of my lost love,
The one who got away.
