Father 2 - My Dear Dad Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Father 2 - My Dear Dad

Rating: 5.0

Day does not pass without remembering you,
Daily chores that marked your presence in every small thing,
Determined you were to educate your children,
Dedicated you were to bestow comfort to your dear family.

You were a towering presence,
You gave me courage which I lacked,
You gave me strength of mind that I gradually developed,
You gave me plenty of books to be embraced and adorned.

I am thankful for your guidance, dear Dad!
I leant to read and write with your encouragement,
I learnt to sing and dance with joy and jubilance,
I learnt to laugh merrily, just like you! My beloved Dad.

Eighteen years have passed, since
You made your transition from this world,
But, my memories of you have not faded at all,
You ever remain my guiding Spirit!

Every child is indebted to their parents. Even after 18 long years, time failed to erase or fade the memories of your father, this what makes us stand apart from other living things. A fantastic tribute to your Dad, hope he must be smiling in heavens reading your heartfelt poem and must be feeling proud of his progeny. Thanks for sharing this poem.

You were a towering presence, You gave me courage which I lacked, You gave me strength of mind that I gradually developed, You gave me plenty of books to be embraced and adorned. You had a wonderful father. i hear stories of children who cry even when they are grown ups that they never received love from their father.. we shall thank God that you had such a great towering person in your life. tony

I remember having read another poem on your father! When parents pass away, we miss them more and more and feel more grateful at the thought of how they have been guiding spirits in our lives. Their memories will stay ever fresh in our hearts...! I do endorse Indira ji's opinion - 'daughters are always more attached to their fathers. A loving tribute! A 10
