Filius Poem by Sheena Blackhall

Filius

I want to
Wrap you around me
Like a beautiful coat

I want to express
The poison from my nipples

I want to stamp out history
Guilt, like a monstrous leech
Suckles on my days
My unquiet nights

How many times did you cry for me
Before hope died
And the light of childhood dimmed?

A fiend sits on my bedhead
It drags its talons
Down my bloodied heart
