Flaws

All she saw were her flaws.
The ones that were endlessly flaunting themselves around
The ones that everybody looked at instead of her.

The mirror magnified her flaws, making her insecure.
Her beautiful personality turned dark and
The other people encouraged this act.
They chanted in her head the hateful words;
words that begged her to end her life.
All she saw were her flaws.
The flaws that led her to believe she was only made of flaws.

    The only flaw was in not seeing her true beauty. This is a beautifully written poem. It describes the reality of how cruel people can sometimes be to one another. How wonderful that poetry can be an art form to expose the futility of this behavior. This is a wonderful poem full of feeling and expression. It reminds us to never allow others to blind us to our own beauty within. (Report) Reply

Poem of the Day

poet Alfred Lord Tennyson

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
