Candy floss clouds scurries across expectant blue skies,
She feels alone in this party crowd
With their laughter echoing in her mind twice as loud,
As she feels the agony of the loss of his happy presence
From her life,
She wants to be his adoring wife,
To crown him king of her sheltered life.
The barbecue is hot and sizzling with the succulent smell of steak,
Floating in the stillness of her thoughts,
She is an empty soul without his embrace,
That captured her spirit that had always fought
For a chance of romance,
And a time to dance,
With his natural exuberance that had given her a chance,
To unite her fearful heart and soul,
As she longs for a steep hill to just be carefree and roll
To freedom for her scarred soul,
Emptiness is a reason to hide,
To express her turmoil she dreams of the incoming tide,
Of the wild ocean thundering in her ears,
As she observes the great expanse of sea and sky so wide,
She is drowning in the melodious ocean,
Without his truth of freedom in motion,
She hears his voice calling her name
Across the vastness of sullen skies reaching for fame,
She feels the shame of a past haunted by a power game,
Control with the fear of mental torture.
Suddenly he stands before her looking regal with loving eyes,
He holds her hand and says 'I'm sure,
My only love, you and I will endure,
Through the history of our time together so pure,
We will reach for optimistic skies,
Leaving behind the angry lies, '
Now the ocean shouts from her hearts core,
And the boisterous seagulls squawks and cries.
As in her dreams her king leaves his footprints in the sand,
Along the mighty shore.
The first line is a perfect introduction to the poem; through analogy, creating beautiful poetic images. It feels like a tale where the heroine, though physically present in the mundane life, she escapes in dreaming of her beloved with a tender longing vividly descriptive - the depths of the ocean, like the depths of her emotions. And his words in the penultimate stanza, completes beautifully her heart with hope, and the finale of this exquisite poem!
The lost rhythm of life though seemingly lost in the dreary sands of time has been recaptured in the confluence of her individuality with that of her lover at least in a reverie which of course give hope to a final unification. A beautiful poem penned with lot of feelings.
It is a strong love poem. I love the spirit and body of it.
You always amaze me with your rendition of words. Soulful! And wonderful use of diction. Thanks for sharing, Hazel. Remain enriched.

The heart was broken due to power struggle and many other reason, though the soul of the love want to revive it..but ultimately left the foot print in the memory sand...Thank you for sharing..
This part of love is the part that makes me wonder about the validity of the saying- - It is better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all. I am not sure of that.. Agony and loneliness and feeling like a loser - - just not my favorite emotions. Sigh. But who wants to live without the highs of love. So we love and get our hearts broke for it.
He holds her hand and says 'I'm sure, My only love, you and I will endure, Through the history of our time together so pure, We will reach for optimistic skies, Amazing stanza of a wonderful poem.

A nice portrait of human sentiments, feeling the absence of a lost love.
