Forever Poem by Courtney Shanahan

Forever

Rating: 5.0

My life without you is finally a life
My heart can breathe
Without you stabbing at my body
The love you gave me, blinded me
Yeah I say it was love but it was torture
Pain, unforgivable actions, out of control
They say I was stupid to let you go
But you showed them a side I never saw
‘I love you’ is powerful
What you really meant was ‘I love to hurt you’
Seeing you kills me
Brings back something I never want to see again
Moving on was hard
You are the devil summoned by evil to kill
You almost did, once
Remember
You say it was the drugs but you never took any
Where does that leave you?
I don’t know, but one life you wanted
You can never have
I warned her, the other one, what you were like
But nobody listens to an angel in recovery
My life has turned around
For once in my life I can take control
Walk in the dense forest
Swim in the crystal water
Do something for myself
I sit here crying
I’m not sad

Love is like falling down
In the end you’re hurt
Scarred
And left with a memory of it
Forever
