Freedom Of Thought Poem by Sandra Feldman

Freedom Of Thought

Freedom of thought,
Is so Important,
To make life and love progress,
Without Freedom we're impotent,
To give fully of our best.
Or feel Life is truly blessed.

To be able to express oneself,
The Freedom in that Joy,
It makes our Lives worth living,
Understanding chokes Destroy.

Yes, I concur and join in the celebration of Freedom. It's our American heritage as well, I'm reminded as I write this on a National Holiday. However, freedom can be a double-edged sword, or a guillotine. Our Revolution was relatively benign but the French Revolution with its excesses of freedom still troubles the French people today. How to balance Freedom and - what? Good Will? Sacredness of Life? I'm casting too many shadows on the celebration! Let freedom ring, as the prophets and poets say.
