Friend Poem by George Pairpoint

Friend

Plucked from existence,
Like gum from a shoe,
In all my life, I never crossed paths,
With someone quite like you,
A bellowing presence that whispers hello,
A certain bravado, none of which is for show,
A gentle giant placed right in my life,
There to help me through trouble and strife,
A heart of pure gold, with not a single impurity,
When I turn round, I know you’ll be there for me,
Easy on the eye, but harsh with your manner,
Words of true wisdom, years past your age,
Devoted and passionate unselfish and tall,
You may not be massive but your heart sure ain’t small.
