From Birth My Father Taught Me Poem by Gert Strydom

From Birth My Father Taught Me

From birth my father taught me to trust in God,
to distinguish between both good and bad,
doubts to remove and to hunt for what is good,
to be far greater than what is in the human cell
and to hold on to truth, past life and death
but passion for poetry was on his very breath.
