Gamblin' Machine Blues

That 'ol gambling machine
take all
my money and leave me
without one thin dime
But I'm just a gamblin' man
and I just can't help
gamblin' all this money of mine
that 'ol gamblin' machine
don't hardly know
how to give
cos all it does is take
every gamblin' man know
that when all your gamblin'
money is gone
its just like check-mate
don't wanna gamble no more
but I just don't know
how to quit
every time I put my money
in that 'ol gamblin' machine
I just know I'm gonna hit!

Poem of the Day

poet Sara Teasdale

I thought of you and how you love this beauty,
And walking up the long beach all alone
I heard the waves breaking in measured thunder
As you and I once heard their monotone.
