'Garbarge' Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

'Garbarge'

There are some who would rather,
Denounce their disdain they have for others...
Either by appearances.
Or an act displayed,
They perceive is beneath what is socially accepted.
However,
Trash is trash.
No matter what the color.
Or where it is to sit on bricks.
Atop a foundation attached to a basement.
Or mobilized pulled by a moving truck.
Trash is trash.
And the stench of it is often deodorized.
To smother temporarily the smell.

Smut is smut.
Left to linger it corrupts.
Although class?
To have it to be observed.
Ultimately everyone agrees,
Imitating it seldom passes the class test.
Regardless of how someone dresses.
Hidden filthy nasty ways to portray wholesomeness?
Is just that.
A portrayal to mask and camouflage sleaze.
Even fleas are not fooled by this trick.

Back to trash!
Trash is trash.
And often shown to be known for what it is.
Garbage!
Yet,
Depending on the setting and who attends.
'Garbarge' may be more appropriate,
To describe the affair and event.
