Ghost Ship Poem by Paula Glynn

Ghost Ship

Rating: 5.0

The ship of fools
A celebration of fools
Ghosts of the deceased celebrating
Those ancient classmates
Joking about the past
Laughing as they cry

A roomful of children's toys
The resident of the ship of fools
To be handed an invitation card
The party of 2099 to begin
That pain, those tears
Now just hysterical tears of laughter

Life seen with new wise eyes
The eyes of a future president
The eyes of future generations
The human race expanding
The planet spinning in orbit
Although it not to come around

The innocent guilty of being children
The innocent not guilty of murder
The innocent playing another
For an insolent and nasty fool
Hurting another to wrongly look cool
Not yet realizing the humour

Soft for little children by Erasure
Always being sung
Nightmare on Elm Street begun
Yet the nightmare ends
The bullies becoming friends
Once the lesson is learnt

The deceased victim never a fool
Never again to dwell on the once nightmare
Not having realised home truths
Only knowing the misery of youth
School days painful and upsetting
With every morning that arrived

But now an old man or old woman
The elderly knowing their place in the world
They know heaven their ultimate goal
Now forgiving their cruel bullies
Saving their soul from doom and gloom
Now happily hosting a popular party.

Wonderful poem, enigmatic, with colourful images. " The deceased victim never a fool Never again to dwell on the once nightmare"… loved the marvellous presentation
