Giving Up Poem by Mary Rodriguez

Giving Up

A beautiful song the sound of love
Lifting your heart like the wings of a dove
Thinking of dreams of long ago
In a place where lovers hearts dare to go
The human heart has hidden treasures
In its hopes, dreams, thoughts and pleasures
My choicest hours are the hours I spent with you
People don't realize this joy until their time together is through
Everyone close leaves one day
Seems nothing good can ever stay
I am what I am, no one cares or knows
I am the self-consumer of my own woes
I sit alone in this dark place
My mind going crazy, my heart beginning to race
Once in control now feeling all messed up
I never thought I would but I think it's time to give up
Into the living sea of waking dreams
Where nothing is as it once seemed
Being lonely and apart is like a pouring rain
Praying it will wash away this consuming pain
I lay in that place between sleep and awake
Wondering, what will be my fate?
This world is a passing show
Sooner or later, we all must go...
