God Only Knows Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

God Only Knows

Rating: 4.5

I'm aways wary of what people call 'truth'
As they say one man's junk...
is another man's treasure
That statement rings true to me

'truth' is a matter of perspective
and not so easy to see
so when someone tells me the 'truth'
it is their truth and no necessarily truth to me

When a man says he cares much its best to be gentle to him
Because you may not know the 'Truth' of things
the affection and care that resides inside of him
What is nothing to you, might be everything to him

So be gentle as you send him on his way
don't discount the emotion he sent your way
because the 'truth' is for someone above to decide
and cannot be known in just a day

Any kindness that I ever sent to any
Always came from the heart
A heart that is weary and wounded by goodbyes
and from loved ones, does never part

And if I've seemed to turn away
it was only caring turned inside out
because you are a treasure in my eyes
though this you surely doubt.

So if the 'truth' to you is hurtful
I must bow my head and share the hurt and take the fault
But my 'truth' of you is much kinder than you know
and you're more sensitive than you show

You're more than a memory and I hold you in high esteem
because you touched my heart more than once
that I cared as more than a friend tore us at the seams
but know....'truth' is not always what it first seems

God bless you always, and deliver you to your dreams
What I cannot, I hope time will mend
Please remember me, not so unkindly
Time was never wasted in the company of a friend
