God Tried Me Poem by Cindy Wyatt

God Tried Me

God tried me and proved me
by many years in the wilderness
through many heartaches and trials
not all joyfulness and bliss
Because He wanted to see
if I would follow him as I ought
when the way was rough and rugged
with many battles to be fought

God led me all the way
through valleys and mountaintops
giving me strength to go on
and drying up all my tearful sops
He strengthened my inward man
and gave me courage to withstand
giving victory over all my foes
keeping me always in His hand

God did all this for me
to give me a better end
so that now by looking back
I can see He was a faithful friend
God never failed
always coming through for me
refining my spiritual vision
so eternity I could more clearly see

Deuteronomy 8: 2: And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.
